Is that really a good idea?

Ok, let's start with the evidence and have a look at this trailer for Disney's "The Lone Ranger":

Looks sweet, ey? Granted, it does but that's probably the only good thing you can say at the moment about this entire project. Going through development hell forever, shaken by budget constraints, grounded by source material that no one younger than 80 knows, and with the recent flops of "Cowboys & Aliens" and uber-bomb "John Carter", "The Lone Ranger" looks poised to play for a lone audience (ha, pun intended!).

But seriously, I'm not sure whether it is good idea for Disney to bet on this forgotten relict of ye olde days, especially not when it has a price tag of $250 million. Not even the inclusion of blockbuster director Gore Verbinski (of "Pirates of the Caribbean" fame) and his star Johnny Depp can make this film look much better. Of course, I hope the film itself will prove me wrong but until the world has seen it "The Lone Ranger" seems headed towards disaster.
